RISMEDIA, June 30, 2008-National real estate technology pioneer FavoriteAgent.com meets the recent DOJ/NAR settlement head on as it unveils its free Compliance Gateway for use on real estate websites.
The designers, who specialize in registration gateway technology, have created a simple DOJ/NAR compliant gateway that integrates seamlessly with any real estate website, immediately bringing it into compliance with the current VOW policy, according to the company.
The recent settlement between the Department of Justice and the National Association of REALTORS® mandates that website owners require users to register with a unique login and consent to an approved terms of use and privacy policy before accessing IDX search. Website owners also must maintain a secure record of all registration information for a period of not less than 180 days and to provide for a complete audit trail to the Department of Justice upon request.
The policy change is said to leave many traditional websites in violation of the law. President and CEO of FavoriteAgent.com Matt Jones comments, “Now agents who don’t have the time or inclination to deal with pages and pages of new regulations don’t have to give up their IDX access.”
According to the settlement, Realtors have less than 90 days to begin the compliance process before facing sanctions.
“We’ve been perfecting VOW gateways for years,” said Jones. “With this ruling, we found ourselves in a unique position to step in and help hundreds of thousands of agents who suddenly found themselves in violation of NAR policy, so naturally we took it.”
Last year, FavoriteAgent.com made national news with its unprecedented giveaway of its popular real estate contact manager Pipeline Basic, also free of charge.
