RISMEDIA, August 2, 2008-(MCT)-Your website is your No. 1 marketing tool. It can give potential customers all kinds of valuable information about your business. This includes your experience, as well as your products and services, and most importantly how to contact you.
All of this information is useless, however, unless people know how to find it. To advertise your site, consider these three simple tips:
- Leverage your marketing materials. You should stamp your website’s URL on all your communication materials, including business cards, letterhead, envelopes and any direct-mail pieces you might send out. Make sure to include your URL on your e-mail signature. The more exposure you can get for your URL, the better.
- Write an article or a column. Publishing an article that is within your area of expertise will get you attention. Trade magazines and trade websites are a particularly good bet. Not only will they be more open to publishing your work but you will also get your name out to the field. Put your URL at the bottom of the article, and watch the traffic on your site jump.
- Get listed on online directories. There are a number of major online directories, including Google, Yahoo! and DMOZ.org, the open source directory. All of these list websites under particular categories. For example if you have a business-consulting company, you can be listed under Business Services.
