RISMEDIA, May 15, 2007-Diane Turton, Realtors is going “green.” The firm, which has 23 offices in New Jersey and Southeast Florida, is one of the first real estate companies in the Garden State to join the national U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and its New Jersey Chapter. USGBC’s statewide unit is growing rapidly and currently has 351 members who represent 290 member companies.
Diane Turton, the company’s owner and broker of record, also retained Sea-n-Green consultants in Ocean County, N.J., to develop a set of green procedures and policies for her company. The consultants, Rebecca Biskaduros and Jason Turton, who is Turton’s son, will make recommendations ranging from a company-wide recycling program to the use of green office products and equipment. The goal is to create a more environmentally sustainable company and become a resource for other companies that want to “go green.”
“This is a great opportunity for us to take a big step toward doing the right thing for the environment,” says Mrs. Turton. “We’re exploring new and innovative ways that our firm can safeguard the environment. The air, water and scenic beauty are what make this area such a wonderful place to live.”
The USGBC is a nonprofit organization of leaders from every sector of the building industry. With more than 8,500 members and 75 regional chapters, its goal is to promote buildings that are environmentally responsible.
“We are very pleased to welcome Diane Turton, Realtors as a new member of our organization,” said Andy Topinka, chair of the USGBC’s N.J. Chapter. “Mrs. Turton and her 500 sales associates play a key role when they represent homebuilders and real estate developers as well as home buyers and sellers. As more of residential and commercial clients ask to see green homes and buildings, Mrs. Turton and her agents will advise builders and developers about this emerging market and overtime, they’ll respond.”
