RISMEDIA, July 12, 2007—As U.S. Professional Cyclist George Hincapie races towards the Tour de France finish, plans for the Hincapie™ Performance Training Center, located within the new cycling-centric real estate development Pla d’Adet, are taking shape. The 40,000 square-foot training facility will feature state-of-the-art fitness testing technology, training pool, spa facilities and daily rides from the property, which is situated between Asheville, N.C. and Greenville, S.C., along the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Adjacent to the training facility, the 15,000 square-foot four-story Pla d’Adet Lodge will include a dining and lounge area, conference room, theater, business center, bike repair and maintenance station, and a retail center.
“The Hincapie Performance Training Center is like no other multi-sport training facility out there,” said Ron Vergnolle, president of PHC Communities, LLC, Pla d’Adet’s developer. “Besides the state-of-the-art indoor training facilities, you’re steps away from some of the most rigorous and scenic outdoor biking trails this side of the Rocky Mountains. For serious athletes and for serious cycling enthusiasts, Pla d’Adet has it all in one place.”
With 45-foot high glass windows, the fitness and training facility will provide spectacular views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Pla d’Adet members, pro cycling teams and performance athletes from around the world will have access to self-contained high altitude training rooms, biomechanical systems, heart rate measuring equipment, power output measuring systems, resistance stations and classrooms. Alongside the pool, a therapeutic hot tub, dry sauna and steam room will allow performance athletes to recuperate after long rides and runs.
The overall construction footprint on Pla d’Adet’s 300-acre site will conserve natural areas and reduce environmental impact by building along the contours of the land rather than on top of the land. From energy efficient light fixtures, minimized use of asphalt, drip irrigation systems and other energy conservation efforts, Pla d’Adet developers are working to implement ‘green’ strategies throughout the property.
Construction on the Hincapie Performance Training Village is slated to begin this Fall, with completion in the Spring of 2008.
