RISMEDIA, August 3, 2007—Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC has announced a partnership with OnBoard LLC, a provider of local information on homes, schools and places of interest, to debut “SpotIt,” a social media application that identifies the best “Spots” in every neighborhood. The SpotIt program was unveiled at the Inman News’ Real Estate Connect conference at the Palace Hotel.
According to the company, its 112,000 U.S.-based Coldwell Banker® sales associates will have the opportunity to showcase their community knowledge by populating the SpotIt database with ratings of their favorite neighborhoods and area amenities including restaurants, shopping destinations and movie theaters. This information will eventually provide potential home buyers visiting www.coldwellbanker.com with unique insight into their prospective new community.
“With SpotIt, home buyers and sellers will soon be able to dig deeper into neighborhoods than ever before,” said Charlie Young, senior vice president for marketing of Coldwell Real Estate LLC. “Once we collect a suitable amount of useful data, we will integrate the insights into our existing neighborhood amenities section on coldwellbanker.com. Users will benefit from the collective experiences of Coldwell Banker sales associates who live and work in the neighborhoods they service. This partnership is another example of our desire to utilize technological advances to provide home buyers and sellers the best possible experience.”
“SpotIt is plug-and-play Web 2.0 for the real estate industry,” said OnBoard Chief Executive Officer Marc Siden. “Rather than innovate outside the industry, we decided to remain steadfast in our strategy to build solutions for the industry that would allow real estate companies to meet the needs of online buyers and sellers through their own Web sites. Coldwell Banker has always been an online leader, so they were a natural partner for us.”
SpotIt takes advantage of the OnBoard LLC nationwide database of local business listings to provide Coldwell Banker sales associates with the ability to rate suitable amenities. The application will ultimately be delivered to coldwellbanker.com via an API (application programming interface) that will seamlessly integrate the data into coldwellbanker.com.
