RISMEDIA, Oct. 11, 2007-Alain Pinel Realtors received the Corporate Community Service Award by Shelter Network at their 20th Anniversary “Leading the Way Back Home” benefit breakfast, announced Vice President/Burlingame Manager Joanne Wondolowski.
At the award presentation in San Mateo, Alain Pinel Realtors (APR) managers and agents were recognized for their generous contributions to Shelter Network in both time and money. Shelter Network gives this award to one company and an individual annually who demonstrate extraordinary commitment to Shelter Network. APR President & COO Larry Knapp received the award on behalf of the company.
During the past year, Wondolowski worked together with other APR managers and agents to develop the Shelter Network/Alain Pinel Realtors’ Community Partner Program, which launched in December 2006. The program gives agents in the Burlingame, Palo Alto, Menlo Park and San Mateo offices the opportunity to make a predetermined close- of-escrow gift to Shelter Network on behalf of their client out of their regular commission splits. There is no additional cost to consumers who use Alain Pinel Realtors’ services. With 55 agents enrolled in the program thus far, Alain Pinel Realtors’ managers and agents have raised $32,677 for Shelter Network through August this year.
“Alain Pinel Realtors is honored to receive this award and we value our partnership with Shelter Network. It recognizes who we are and what we stand for. It is especially gratifying to contribute to the communities in which we live,” said Joanne Wondolowski. Shelter Network is a non-profit organization whose mission is to break the cycle of homelessness. Its “Leading the Way Back Home” program serves over 3,500 men, women and children by providing them with more than 183,500 nights of shelter and the comprehensive services they need to become self-sufficient and to maintain stable housing. Shelter Network’s proven success returned 98% of its transitional housing program graduates to homes of their own last year.
The managers and agents of Alain Pinel Realtors have a long history of volunteerism with Shelter Network’s First Step for Families – particularly the Burlingame office. Burlingame agents were so enthusiastic about their support for Shelter Network that Ms. Wondolowski introduced the Community Partner Program to APR office managers and sales professionals that work in and near the San Francisco Peninsula. As a result, they have been volunteering at many Shelter Network programs by hosting parties, collecting art supplies, clothing and house wares. In addition, APR volunteers have adopted families during the holiday season and worked as active members on various Shelter Network committees. In recent years and during the winter holidays, APR’s Burlingame office has hosted an annual party with traditional holiday food (turkey and all the trimmings), gifts and fun (like face painting) for approximately 75 children and adults residing in Shelter Network’s San Mateo facility.
