RISMEDIA, Oct. 11, 2007-Marjorie Hernandez was recently named first runner-up in the Real Estate Apprentice Foundation Awards garnering national prestige and a $7,000 grant.Hernandez recently completed her training at the Champions School of Real Estate and now works in the Champions office of Prudential Gary Greene, Realtors.
“Marjorie has really gotten off to a great start here,” said Sharon Teusink, manager of the Prudential Gary Greene Champions office. “She has the patience, perseverance and adaptability to work with all types of clients, and we’re proud to have her on our team.”
To enter the Real Estate Apprentice contest, Hernandez had to write a series of essays and answer a questionnaire. As she made her way through the semifinals and to the final round of the contest, she was critiqued by a panel of judges.
“We were graded on salesmanship, communication skills, entrepreneurial spirit, uniqueness and integrity,” said Hernandez.
Born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, Hernandez moved to the US when she was 14. She has been working in real estate since late February and entered the profession after serving as a US Navy recruiter for three years.
“As a recruiter, I realized I had the ability to solve problems and work well with people. I wanted to put those skills to work in the real estate industry.”
Hernandez recently learned that she has been called back to active duty with the U.S. Navy in Iraq, where she will serve for a year. After that, Hernandez plans to continue her real estate career, and Teusink said she is looking forward to welcoming her back after her tour of duty.
“She has a home at Prudential Gary Greene, Realtors waiting for her,” said Teusink.
