RISMEDIA, March 4, 2008-MLSListings Inc, a nonprofit organization leading Northern California’s consolidation of the Multiple Listing Service (MLS), announced it is formally partnering with California Real Estate Technology Services, Inc. (CARETS), the largest Southern California MLS data aggregation effort, to work together toward data consolidation that will benefit more than 120,000 subscribers from Orange County to the Bay Area. This new agreement brings the prospect of a statewide MLS one step closer to reality.
“Our MLS expertise will enable us to accomplish record-setting levels of collaboration and cooperation by implementing new industry standards regarding rules and data, which will improve and simplify the MLS environment for our subscribers and data customers,” said Larry Knapp, chairman of the Board for MLSListings Inc.
The goal is to increase agent efficiency by providing a single source, standardized and quality driven MLS database governed by a single set of rules and established by MLS experts who have a single focus of providing MLS consolidation and efficiency. This cooperative effort will focus on data consolidation; adoption of standard business rules; adoption of a common RETS 2.0 standard, as well as the development of standardized MLS rules and regulations.
“This collaboration is the next step toward statewide MLS data consolidation. Our goal is the same – we want to better serve our customers, and we have the know-how and technology to make it happen,” said Donna O’Donnell, chairperson of CARETS, Inc.
MLS Listings Inc currently has nearly 23,000 subscribers in Northern California and CARETS represents more than 100,000 real estate professionals in Southern California.
