RISMEDIA, July 31, 2008-MLSListings Inc, a Silicon Valley-based non-profit regional Multiple Listing Service (MLS) and software developer, announced it has partnered with Arcot Systems, Inc. to design and implement its multifactor and strong authentication (SA) security initiative.
This initiative is part of MLSListings’ continued adoption of best practices across all areas of its MLS technology management. “In an environment of growing online threats like phishing and man in the middle attacks, we concluded that a software-based multifactor and strong authentication solution is the best approach in securing multiple points of data access across the MLS system,” said MLSListings’ President and CEO, Jim Harrison. “Arcot’s A-OK On-Demand solution provides a significant increase in security by protecting the identities and proprietary data of our broker and agent communities with little or no impact on our customers’ login experience. In fact, it will actually improve our customers’ login experience by working transparently without the need for additional hardware.”
After several months of due diligence, MLSListings determined the software-based multifactor and SA solution Arcot offers is the best option for its security upgrade. “We examined more than a dozen strong authentication technology providers and Arcot became the clear choice for a number of reasons,” said Harrison. “Arcot gives us the powerful sophisticated technology we’re looking for along with the added benefits of scalability, mobility, flexibility and cost-effectiveness. It’s the whole package.”
Two of the most compelling features in MLSListings’ decision to partner with Arcot are how the software-based program is friendly to use and manage on both the subscriber and operations side. Another key component is the use of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), which is an industry-accepted standard that addresses authenticity, confidentially, non-repudiation and data integrity. PKI acts as an extra layer of security against online threats because the password is actually never transmitted. Not only do brokers and agents benefit from this kind of technology, the consumer does as well.
MLSListings will work with Arcot Systems on a phased rolled out of implementation scheduled for completion by October.
