RISMEDIA, Oct. 27, 2008-Social networking as exploded in the last couple of years and as more people continue to use social networking sites such as RealTown, ActiveRain, Myspace, and Facebook, you want to be sure to set up your own profiles so people can find you.
Most real estate agents already know about RealTown and ActiveRain and have profiles set up to networking with other professionals in the real estate industry. The site has thousands of users registered from not only agents, but other real estate professions such as mortgage brokers, escrow agents, and property managers. It’s easy to see the value in participating in these communities.
But what about sites such as Myspace and Facebook? It’s also important to set up profiles on these sites because when potential clients do their due diligence online, you want to make sure that they only see positive things.
Setting up profiles on these websites will help you get indexed in the search engines for your name. When potential clients search you, instead of just seeing your real estate website, they will see numerous websites that have information about you.
It’s still important to use social networking websites professionally. You do not want to have information on those sites that can hurt your reputation. Many agents have already set up these profiles and it helps them connect with other real estate agents in their area and also other people living in their neighborhood and surrounding areas.
