RISMEDIA, Nov. 5, 2009âLooking to bring some laughs to this yearâs Power Broker Dinner, RISMedia has announced that Saturday Night Live veteran âFather Guido Sarducciâ a.ka. Don Novello, will serve as the featured entertainer for next weekâs event.
RISMediaâs 14th Annual Power Broker Reception & Dinnerâan invitation-only galaârecognizes the outstanding achievements of residential real estateâs most influential and charismatic leaders. The by-invitation-only event will be held on Friday, November 13 at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel.
âFather Guido Sarducciâ is a fictional character made famous by comedian Don Novello. A chain-smoking priest with tinted eyeglasses, Sarducci worked in the U.S. as gossip columnist and rock critic for the Vatican newspaper L’Osservatore Romano and, later, as assistant managing editor for The Vatican Enquirer.Â
Novello created the Sarducci character in the early ’70s, with several notable TV appearances on the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. Father Sarducci soon became widely recognized and loved as a result of his many appearances on Saturday Night Live in the late 70s, during which time Novello was also a writer for the show.Â
Most of Father Sarducci’s appearances on SNL were on Weekend Update. But he also was featured in some memorable commercial parodies such as âBocce Ball My Way.âÂ
