RISMEDIA, September 21, 2010—Representatives from ERA Franchise Systems, based in Parsippany, N.J., presented a check for $479,000 to the Muscular Dystrophy Association during the 2010 Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon in Las Vegas.
The check was presented by Debbie McGriff, ERA vice president of Business Development on behalf of ERA.
MDA Telethon co-host Alison Sweeney, host of NBC’s “Biggest Loser,” thanked McGriff during the Telethon for the company’s contribution. The contribution represents ERA’s year-round fundraising efforts for MDA.
“The continued support of the ERA network brings us closer to treatments and cures, and sponsors vital MDA assistance like medical clinics and MDA summer camp,’’ Lewis said. “Thanks to help like theirs, one day, hope will become a reality for ‘my kids.’’’
This is in addition to $58,919,838 in total pledges and contributions made during the Telethon from a generous public.
WWOR, Channel 9, in Secaucus, N.J., covered the presentation live.
“At ERA Real Estate, we build strong relationships with our communities and with the families served by MDA, who have become a special part of the fabric of ERA,’’ said McGriff. “Until we hear Jerry say, ‘Mission Accomplished,’ our network of ERA agents and brokers will be by your side.’’
Televised by more than 170 “Love Network’’ stations, the 2010 Telethon is expected to be watched by some 40 million Americans.
Social media followers of MDA’s Twitter, Faceboook and YouTube were treated to a behind-the-scenes look throughout the broadcast.
