Crimes against real estate and leasing agents are on the rise, experts report. The news headlines are often atrocious and yet job duties require agents to continue to pound the pavement with zeal and rarely shift from the current process. The scenarios that continue to put real estate agents at risk are: 1) hosting open houses; 2) new client meetings; 3) REO market visits; and 4) listing appointments. In general meeting unfamiliar people in unfamiliar places continues to put real estate professionals at risk.

According to a recent report by Agent Genius, personal safety app Moby, and REALTOR safety expert Andrew Wooten, the past year has been the most violent for the estate industry, with a noticeable increase in assaults, murders and suicides of real estate professionals. The most noted crimes were the murders of two Ohio agents, last year and an Iowa agent, this past spring. The truth is that there are many harassment incidents and attempted assaults that go unreported or unnoticed by the media, experts report.

While many agencies remind their staff of general safety measures on an annual or quarterly basis, there is a new and valuable service for agents that goes a step further to ensure personal safety 24/7, nationwide, called MyForce.

Kirsten Medeiros, an agent and MyForce advocate, said: “Having been an agent for over 15 years now, I’ve experienced my share of harassments and have certainly adjusted my protocol with clients because of that. When I found MyForce, it changed the way I do business and helped me feel more at ease during certain job functions. I find that creepy feeling sets in when I’m in a desolate area as well as an urban jungle. Until you have it, you don’t even realize how many times day that it would be handy. ”

According to the company, MyForce is the first and only personal security system for a smartphone user that connects them to UL listed, 5-Diamond certified professionally trained alarm-monitoring centers.

While there are many safety apps, MyForce is the only one that connects you to a live, well-trained monitoring center. In situations where potential danger looms, individuals are better served to be connected directly to the live monitoring team rather than connected to friends and family who may not receive the notification in a timely manner; or who may be unprepared to respond.

MyForce offers a solution to the risk agents face in their everyday lives. Agencies looking to increase productivity, retention, as well as increase the peace of mind and security of their agents and their families can offer MyForce to their staff. Otherwise, agents can simply subscribe on an individual basis for themselves and their loved ones.
