Apartment shoppers use multiple sources in their search according to a recent survey from SatisFacts Research that questioned 34,000 apartment dwellers who recently moved.
“What this means to apartment marketers is that they cannot rely on any single medium to reach prospective renters,” says Marcia Bollinger, President of Apartment Finder.
The web was highly ranked among shoppers, and Internet Listing Sites were at the top of the list. Directionally, this indicates that shoppers find these web sites useful in their search, but no one site overwhelms another. Printed guidebooks ranked relatively high in usage, also.
The other most often utilized sources include word or mouth (15.4 percent), referrals from current (9.9 percent) and former residents (6.3 percent). “It’s just as important to keep renters in place and happy. They, basically, become an arm of your marketing and sales team,” Bollinger observes.
