The Chicago Association of REALTORS® (C.A.R.) is making a $10,000 contribution to the REALTORS® Relief Foundation in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, the organization has announced. Half of the C.A.R. donation is earmarked specifically for relief in hard-hit New Jersey, the other $5,000 for New York. C.A.R. is also encouraging its 11,000 Chicago REALTOR® members to contribute as they are able, and other real estate industry affiliates and friends who can assist hurricane recovery to help.
As part of its “giving back” philosophy, C.A.R. has history of contributing to similar relief efforts.
“The REALTOR® Relief Foundation is our community’s resource for helping those in dire need. In the wake of a disaster, like today, it’s critical to remember that there is really just one human community, and it’s imperative to act quickly while act people affected are still in search of housing and other basics,” said C.A.R. president Ezekiel “Zeke” Morris, Keller Williams Realty, C.C.G.
“The REALTOR® Relief Foundation is dedicated to helping provide housing related assistance to people hard-hit by disasters and will assure that every penny donated goes directly, and as quickly as possible, to those whose lives are in turmoil because of the hurricane,” added C.A.R. CEO Ginger Downs. “I am proud of our Board of Directors for approving this significant contribution and helping make things happen while help is so urgently needed.”
Contributions to the REALTORS® Relief Foundation can be made online.
The foundation is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization serving the U.S. and its territories. All donations are used for housing-related expenses for primary residences affected by disaster, from rent and mortgage payments to costs of rebuilding or temporary shelter.
