The Long & Foster Companies, parent company to Long & Foster Real Estate, recently announced it will team with the American Red Cross to support those affected by Super Typhoon Haiyan. The company will match donations from its real estate agents and employees on a dollar-for-dollar basis up to $25,000.
“Long & Foster has a long history of helping the communities in which we live and work, and while Super Typhoon Haiyan occurred on the other side of the world, the needs of those affected are no different than if the storm had happened in our own backyard,” said Jeffrey S. Detwiler, president and COO of The Long & Foster Companies. “As many as 600,000 people in the Philippines have been displaced or left homeless, and as real estate professionals, we at Long & Foster truly understand the sense of security provided by having a safe and comfortable place to call home. That’s why we’re committed to supporting the Red Cross in helping the Philippines rebuild and recover.”
The American Red Cross is working closely with the Philippine Red Cross to assist those affected by the typhoon. Long & Foster’s donations will augment their overall relief efforts, which include providing essentials like food, water and other supplies, as well as volunteer assistance.
