In its continued charitable efforts, the Real Estate One Charitable Foundation contributed $105,000 in 2013 to Special Olympics Michigan (SOMI), the company has announced. Real Estate One Charitable Foundation is a Statewide Gold Medal Sponsor of SOMI.
In addition to financial contributions, the Real Estate One sales associates and employees give of time and talent volunteering for charitable organizations and events. This year, Real Estate One gathered some 53 volunteers, including local agents and management, to help at the 2014 SOMI Winter Games three-day long event. Throughout the event volunteers assisted at Shanty Creek for cross-country, snowboarding, and alpine skiing; at Grand Traverse Resort for snowshoe; and Howe Arena for figure skating and speed skating.
Additionally, Real Estate One members of the Traverse City area put together a team of five to participate at the Polar Plunge February 5th and February 8th, 2014. The Polar Plunge raises money for SOMI and requires participants to bravely jump into frigid water. The Real Estate One Traverse City team raised $10,342 for SOMI through their Polar Plunge fundraising efforts.
“Our sales associates have demanding schedules, so it is inspiring to see them take the time to come together for the good of charity, “ noted President of the Real Estate One Northern Operations, Dennis Pearsall. “I’m proud of the Traverse City team’s dedication to the Special Olympics, as well as their commitment to volunteerism and involvement in other area charities.”
Stuart Elsea, President of the Real Estate One Charitable Foundation says, “We have enjoyed participating in the Winter Games for years. This year, our members from Traverse City made up 30 percent of the REO volunteer group. The Polar Plunge is also a rewarding event and the figure raised by our Traverse City team was quite impressive. It is great to see our offices giving back. They become closer as a team while also serving our community.”
