Leading Power Brokers from across the country will gather in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, May 14th, to share strategies for capitalizing on key market opportunities during RISMedia’s annual Power Broker Forum, held during the National Association of REALTORS® Legislative Meetings & Trade Expo.
This year’s Forum, “Seizing Key Market Opportunities,” will take place at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in the Virginia Suite A from 3:30-5:00 p.m. on the 14th. During this session, an elite panel of Power Brokers will discuss market trends and highlight the key opportunities for increasing business in today’s market. Brokers will share strategies for:
- Training and preparing their agents to capitalize on these opportunities
- Choosing the critical technology and marketing resources necessary to maximize market opportunities
- How they keep their firms agile and flexible to evolve with the changing demands of the market and its consumers

Cofano has over 25 years of real estate-related business management, technology and legal experience, including serving as: CEO for the Missouri REALTORS®; vice president and general counsel of John L. Jon Coile is the chief executive officer and president of Champion Realty, Inc., a Berkshire Hathaway affiliate and part of HomeServices of America, Inc. Champion is a multi-office regional brokerage based in Annapolis, Maryland with Mortgage, Title and Insurance company subsidiaries. Coile got into real estate in 1988 and became a multi-million dollar agent. In 1991, he became a partner in Champion Realty and held many positions in the company including Branch Office Manager, New Homes Director, IT Director, General Manager, and ultimately President and CEO. He is currently the Chairman of the Board of MRIS, the MLS provider for the Mid-Atlantic region; Secretary/Treasurer of The Realty Alliance; a member of the Move, Inc. Broker Advisory Board; a member of the NAR MLS Policy Committee; and has served on the Board of Directors of the Maryland Association of REALTORS®.
Joan Docktor, President, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach, REALTORS®
Joan Docktor is the president of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach, REALTORS®. She embarked as a sales associate in 1986, achieved Rookie of the Year as a novice agent, and rose through the ranks. Docktor has been instrumental to the growth and profitability of the company, the largest brokerage in the Tri-State area of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. With over 60 sales offices and over 4,000 sales associates, the company also offers relocation services, builder’s marketing, and land development. In partnership with The Trident Group, customers are able to experience a one-stop shopping experience with mortgage services, title and settlement services, and property and casualty insurance. Docktor is a Board of Directors member at The Main Line Chamber of Commerce and The Realty Alliance. She is Vice Chairman on the Board of Directors of TREND Multiple Listing Service. Joan was featured in Philadelphia Style magazine as one of the city’s nine most influential women.
J. Lennox Scott, Chairman and CEO, John L. Scott Real Estate
J. Lennox Scott is the chairman and CEO of John L. Scott Real Estate, one of the largest regional real estate companies in the nation, with over 100 offices and 2,600 agents throughout the Pacific Northwest. He became company president and CEO in 1980, transitioning to Chairman and CEO in 2002. Scott is the third generation to run the family business, which was founded by his grandfather in 1931. Scott has earned widespread national recognition, including three nods as one of the 25 most influential people in real estate by REALTOR® Magazine. He is a member of the National Association of REALTORS®, the World President Organization, and Leading Real Estate Companies of the World. He also holds a Certified Residential Broker (CRB) designation and a business degree from the University of Washington. Scott is actively involved in the John L. Scott Foundation, which supports local Children’s Hospitals and children’s healthcare throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Thomas Skiffington, Broker/Partner, RE/MAX 440 and RE/MAX Central
Tom Skiffington, CRB, CRS, GRI, ABR, e-PRO, SRES, CLHMS, RECS, SRS, is the broker/partner of RE/MAX 440 and RE/MAX Central in Perkasie and Allentown, Penn., respectively. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Pennsylvania Association of REALTORS® and is an active member of the REALTORS® National Marketing Institute® and the Residential Sales Council®. He is a past member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of REALTORS® and past president and board member of the Bucks County Association of REALTORS®. Skiffington also serves as a senior instructor for FHA/VA financing and is a member of the RPAC President’s Circle.
