One Washington, D.C.-based developer is hitting the road to find new potential renters in their brand new (foodless) food truck. The JBG Companies is the creator of Dwell Direct, an outfit they deem a “mobile real estate experience.” The new truck is now the company’s mobile leasing office, furnished with a 60-inch touch screen, iPads, and wowing photos of some of the group’s current residential developments. The company drives the truck through different neighborhoods in Maryland, Virginia, and D.C. – and through local farmers markets and various festivals – in order to meet new clients who may already be in love with the city they’re standing in. Once inside the truck, these potential residents can grab an iPad and scroll through details about each community, learn other highlights and need-to-knows about the area, and take a look at any developments that might have available space.
Go to a farmers market for the broccoli, but stay for the real estate presentation!
Although definitely an alternative tactic, the Dwell Direct truck sounds like an extremely innovative way for a company to get out on the town and hit the street with the people they need to reach the most – the ones walking the streets every single day. By getting out of an office setting, the developer is taking initiative and proactively going out to find bodies to fill their spaces, which is highly commendable and very ambitious!
According to The Washington Post, the idea for the truck stemmed from an in-house competition in April of last year that encouraged JBG employees to find creative ways to bring in new homebuyers.
Now, if only they served tacos…
