The fifth annual National Association of Gay and Lesbian Real Estate Professionals (NAGLREP) Conference, Oct. 2-4 in Palm Springs, will gather leaders from both the LGBT community and real estate, including keynote speaker Sarah McBride, national press secretary for the Human Rights Campaign (HRC); Sam Khater, chief economist at Freddie Mac; Vince Malta, first vice president of the National Association of REALTORS®; and John Peyton, CEO of Realogy Franchise Group. The conference is now open to registrants at www.naglrep.com/2018/.
“It is incredibly important that NAGLREP continue to be a bridge between the real estate industry and the LGBT community,” says Jeff Berger, founder of NAGLREP. “Both sides are working to eliminate housing discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, and we also understand the need to showcase the benefits of homeownership to the LGBT community. The gathering of so many leaders from real estate and the LGBT community at our conference will be astounding.”‘
McBride, author of “Tomorrow Will Be Different,” became the first transgender person to speak at a national political convention in an address at the 2016 Democratic National Convention.
On hand will also be AARP Senior Advisor and National LGBT Liaison Nii-Quarterlai Quartey, who will detail his life as an activist, while Lambda Legal Senior Attorney Omar Gonzalez-Pagan will discuss his role in winning the 2017 Colorado case that found the federal Fair Housing Act’s sex discrimination prohibition covers LGBTs. Leaders from Services & Advocacy for GLBT Elders (SAGE) and the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce will also showcase the importance of housing in the lives of the LGBT community.
Bank of America is the presenting sponsor.
