Spring is around the corner and that means it’s vacation time for students and parents alike. A break for the younger kids means a break for the parents. It’s a great time to take a trip with family to a destination you’ve been meaning to visit or to an old favourite. Here are a few popular choices you might consider this year.
New York City
With its close proximity to many major Canadian cities, it’s an easy quick trip to make when you’re on a time budget. It also has limitless options depending on your taste. Into comedy? You’ll find the best and funniest playing regularly in comedy clubs around the city. Theatre? Well, it’s the literal home of Broadway. Art or history? There are more museums in Manhattan than there are in most any other North American city.
Cancun
While the weather is still muddy and in that late winter/early spring slush phase, a vacation somewhere sunny is always a good call. Cancun is always relatively affordable if you’re there for the all-inclusive resort experience, but sales for flights from major Canadian cities have been popping up recently, making it even better for the budget conscious traveler.
London
If you’re looking for culture with a European touch, London is always a safe bet. While not as budget friendly, if you desire culture and history when you travel, it provides plenty. And because March weather isn’t great in London, it is possible to get better flight deals now than you will when the weather starts to warm up. While you’re there, you should also rent a car to explore the gorgeous English countryside.
Havana
As Cuba becomes more and more popular, skip the resort this time and stay in Cuba’s capital where you can take in the colourful architecture, museums, galleries and incredible live music bars. And when you do want to head to the beach, it is only a half hour ride away. It’s the ultimate spring vacation spot if you’re looking for a mix of both sunny beaches and cultural history.
