I had a call recently from one of our Power Agents® who was frustrated at the lack of progress she was making in her business. She admitted that she wasn’t prospecting, and wasn’t keeping in touch with her clients, and it was because she wasn’t feeling motivated.

This is a common affliction among new agents, who feel the overwhelming need to do something, but then don’t know what’s the most important, and are afraid of choosing the wrong thing to work on, which paralyses them even more.

This is what I suggest, and I want you to do these two things every day for a week: 

  1. It’s normal for us not to feel motivated from time to time. Don’t feel bad about it, don’t feel like you have a mental illness. Every single person has highs and lows, and it’s okay to have those times. The feeling doesn’t last forever.

Tony Robbins has a book, “Unleash The Power Within.” It was a really big book…almost too big! Anyways, there was a line in there that really stuck with me—“Motion impacts emotion.” Sometimes we just have to take action even if we don’t feel like it. 

Action: Pick one thing to do in a day to work on your business. It doesn’t matter what it is, whether it’s spending 30 minutes calling Expireds or being on the weekly webinar. Motion impacts emotion—it will motivate you to keep going and do more.

  1. Acknowledge your accomplishments. There are a few similar sayings, “Money breeds more money” and “Success breeds more success.” I want to add my own into the mix and say, “Acknowledgement breeds more acknowledgement.” Acknowledging what you accomplished in a day (even if it was something small), will help shift your focus to the positive of who you are and the value of your life.

Action: Start taking the time when you go to bed at night and write down and reflect on what you accomplished that day in life. Did you make a contribution to your own life? Did you help a friend? Did you help society?
