I had a call recently from one of our Power AgentsÂ® who was frustrated at the lack of progress she was making in her business. She admitted that she wasnâ€™t prospecting, and wasnâ€™t keeping in touch with her clients, and it was because she wasnâ€™t feeling motivated.
This is a common affliction among new agents, who feel the overwhelming need to do something, but then donâ€™t know whatâ€™s the most important, and are afraid of choosing the wrong thing to work on, which paralyses them even more.
This is what I suggest, and I want you to do these two things every day for a week:Â
- It’s normal for us not to feel motivated from time to time. Donâ€™t feel bad about it, donâ€™t feel like you have a mental illness. Every single person has highs and lows, and itâ€™s okay to have those times. The feeling doesnâ€™t last forever.
Tony Robbins has a book, “Unleash The Power Within.” It was a really big bookâ€¦almost too big! Anyways, there was a line in there that really stuck with meâ€”â€śMotion impacts emotion.â€ť Sometimes we just have to take action even if we donâ€™t feel like it.Â
Action: Pick one thing to do in a day to work on your business. It doesnâ€™t matter what it is, whether itâ€™s spending 30 minutes calling Expireds or being on the weekly webinar. Motion impacts emotionâ€”it will motivate you to keep going and do more.
- Acknowledge your accomplishments. There are a few similar sayings, â€śMoney breeds more moneyâ€ť and â€śSuccess breeds more success.â€ť I want to add my own into the mix and say, â€śAcknowledgement breeds more acknowledgement.â€ť Acknowledging what you accomplished in a day (even if it was something small), will help shift your focus to the positive of who you are and the value of your life.
Action: Start taking the time when you go to bed at night and write down and reflect on what you accomplished that day in life. Did you make a contribution to your own life? Did you help a friend? Did you help society?
