RISMEDIA, Oct. 3, 2008-The Houston Association of Realtors® (HAR) is adding its financial muscle to two other Realtor® groups that have pledged assistance to real estate professionals who suffered property loss or damage during Hurricane Ike.The HAR board of directors has authorized contributions totaling $225,000 in funds and in-kind services. Specifically, HAR will contribute $50,000 in cash to the Texas Association of Realtors® (TAR) Relief Fund; waive fees for Realtors approved to participate in the TAR Relief Fund; suspend on an emergency basis fines for Multiple Listing Service subscribers for violations occurring between September 12, 2008 and October 31, 2008; and waive fees for Realtors, brokers and agents who are licensed on Galveston Island and the Bolivar Peninsula through December 31, 2008.
TAR and the National Association Realtors® have committed about $800,000 for hurricane assistance throughout the 29 Texas counties affected by Ike.
“I have heard from so many HAR members about neighbors helping neighbors and Realtors helping Realtors,” said HAR Chairman Michael Levitin. “This is when the truly giving nature of our members becomes so obvious and why I call each of them everyday heroes.”
Realtors in need of the financial assistance must complete an application on the TAR website at http://www.texasrealtors.com.
