About the Webinar
The E-Scale is an easy-to-understand tool that helps homebuyers and homeowners make smart energy decisions when purchasing, renting, or updating a home. It is designed to provide clear, objective answers to basic questions:
Will this home help me save money on energy bills?
How does it compare to a typical new home?
How close is it to a Net-Zero Energy Home?
The E-Scale is based on the Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Index, developed by RESNET, the Residential Energy Services Network. The energy ratings for homes scored on the E-Scale are conducted by RESNET-certified energy raters.
Webinar presenters are Edward Pollock, BTP Residential Team Lead, and David Roberts, NREL Senior Engineer. They will discuss the following:
The benefits of the E-Scale in the process of building, buying, and selling homes.
An overview of the technical rating process behind the E-Scale score.
Other energy rating systems in the market.
Current uses of the E-Scale, including the U.S. DOE’s Builders Challenge and partnerships with the National Association of Homebuilders Green Building Program, MASCO’s Environments for Living Program, and the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED for Homes Program.
