(Dick) Schlott, Chairman & CEO of Gloria Nilson REALTORS®, Real Living and RLS Real Living Realtors, was honored recently with the 2010 RISMedia National Homeownership Award, sponsored by Bank of America Home Loans, at RISMedia’s 15th Annual Power Broker Dinner, held last week during the annual NAR Conference & Expo in New Orleans. The Power Broker Dinner honors the industry’s top brokers, as determined by the results of RISMedia’s annual Power Broker Report & Survey.
Schlott, whose storied past includes leading both GMAC Homes Services and ERA Franchise System, was awarded the honor for continuously demonstrating extraordinary contributions toward increasing homeownership and building better communities. He was presented with the award by Blair Allan, National Strategic Business Alliance Executive for Bank of America Home Loans.
Schlott is the seventh industry icon to receive the award. Others include: Ron Peltier, Chairman & CEO, HomeServices of America; Dave Liniger, Founder & Chairman, RE/MAX International; J. Lennox Scott, Chairman & CEO, John L. With over 40 years in the real estate business, Schlott is a well-known and highly regarded professional in the industry. He founded Schlott Realtors in 1971, and grew it to 140 offices and 4,500 salespeople across five states, with over $7 billion in sales. Schlott also developed the Home Mortgage Network, before selling Schlott Realtors to Coldwell Banker in the early 1990s. Schlott then ran the ERA Franchise system, until its sale to Cendant in the mid 1990s. He then moved on to develop GMAC Home Services, and served as president and CEO from the late 1990s through early 2001. During this time, one of the purchases he made for the company was that of Gloria Nilson Realtors.
