RISMEDIA, June 18, 2011–On Sunday, June 5, participants met at Bellevue Park Community Center in Cranberry for the first Pittsburgh Race For The Home, a mobile treasure hunt with a grand prize of $10,000 cash that could be used for a down payment sponsored by Weaver Master Builders. Teams of two used their mobile phones to complete a series of challenges throughout the city in an attempt to earn the most points and money towards a brand new home.
The winners were announced at an after party at Bar Louie in Station Square. Zack Byrnes and Robyn Hassinger, a recently engaged couple looking to buy a house in Butler County where they grew up, took home the grand prize of $10,000. “My fiancé and I are both young, and as a teacher and non-profit professional respectively, haven’t squirreled away enough in savings for a down payment,” Byrnes said in his entry form for the event. “We’d hate to waste another year or two renting while we save up a larger nest egg, so this would be a tremendous opportunity to jump-start our future!”
Second place winners Brock Masters and Caitlin Monteleone won a $2,500 furniture gift certificate from Today’s Home.
“We wanted to do something for the community that nobody else was doing,” says Ron Croushore, CEO of Prudential Preferred Realty. “The event was a great success and we congratulate the winners on being one step closer to homeownership.”
