REALTORS® do more than sell houses. Recently, Eastern Bergen County Board of REALTORS (EBCBOR) joined with corporate volunteers from companies throughout Bergen County to participate in All in a Day’s Work. Two teams from EBCBOR worked to complete two service projects in one day.
One team of EBCBOR members helped sort and pack more than four and a half tons of food for the Office of Concern Food Pantry at St. Cecilia’s Church in Englewood. The second team converted the Friedberg Properties office in Tenafly into an assembly line where they prepared 200 lunch bags of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and fruit to distribute to homeless clients of the Hoboken Shelter.
“Providing housing and feeding the hungry are two issues that are crucial to local communities,” says EBCBOR President Eileen O’Driscoll. “REALTORS® are dedicated to helping sustain the communities they serve. With increased demands on shelters and local food pantries, REALTORS® are focusing outreach efforts to assist those residents most in need.”
EBCBOR partnered with the Northern New Jersey Business Volunteer Council (BVC), a program of the Volunteer Center of Bergen County for this inaugural county-wide service project. The BVC gives more than 35,000 employee volunteers from member companies the opportunity to impact the lives of low-income children and families by addressing the issues of literacy, hunger and education. and the needs of foster children.
