RISMEDIA, October 29, 2013–Every year Real Living Lifestyles agents join together for a day of community service. This year they are partnering with Move For Hunger – a year-round moving service that connects with relocation companies across the country. The movers volunteer to come by and pick up non-perishable food items from people who are moving. The movers then take the food to the local food banks, which in turn deliver the food to local families in need.
There is such a tremendous need for these kinds of organizations. More than 450,000 people in San Diego County alone struggle with hunger and one third of them are children. In an MSNBC feature, Move For Hunger discovered that 40% of food is thrown out. This is 165 billion dollars worth of food that could feed 25 million people.
To help this enormous need Real Living Lifestyles agents are organizing an ongoing food drive collecting from clients, family, friends, and any one who is willing help out. On November 3, Real Living Lifestyles will be handing out paper bags at the Carlsbad Street Fair. The paper bags can be filled and returned to any of Real Livings locations in exchange for a reusable cloth bag, as a thank you gift for contributing.
Collection efforts will culminate on November 9, when agents will be collecting food outside of local grocery stores. From 9am-4pm Real Living Lifestyles agents will be collecting at these locations: Vons on Carmel Mountain Road in Carmel Valley, Del Mar Heights Road in Del Mar, W El Norte Parkway in Escondido, Bernardo Plaza Drive in Rancho Bernardo; Albertson’s on El Camino Real in Carlsbad and San Elijo Road in San Marcos; and Ralphs on 4S Commons Drive in 4S. At the end of the day when all food donations are collected, Move For Hunger trucks will pass off the food to Feed America to distribute to local food banks in San Diego.
Community Service has always been a part of the company culture at Real Living Lifestyles. Mark Loscher CFO of Real Living Lifestyles said, “At the heart of any great company is its willingness to give back to its community. Over the years Real Living Lifestyles has taken this to heart and we have for each of the last 12 years performed various types of community service. We are especially proud of this year’s effort to help in a small part address the ongoing issue of hunger in San Diego County. We ask for your support in helping to provide food to those who are less fortunate than us. Lets all step up and meet this critical need head on.”
Everyone is welcome to participate! If you would like to help, please bring a bag of non-perishable food items to a Real Living office, or stop by one of the grocery stores on November 9. Together we can make a difference.
