“We all went through the honeymoon phase to connect with every possible contact,” Sesso says. “You need to be meticulous on what you allow in front of you.”
Facebook has a very little used feature called an “interest list,” which allows you to create a group of people you want to follow. Sesso created his own real estate list, with brands like Homes.com on it, so he can hop in anytime and pick up inspiration. This is a great thing to do, he says, for those who don’t want to join Twitter or LinkedIn but still hear what people are saying.
Tips on Instagram
Sesso ended his discussion with a rapid fire of the best ways that agents should be using Instagram. Among his tips were:
1. Use hashtags on Instagram (and Pinterest) to bring attention to your photos.
2. Instead of just showing photos of the exterior of a house, focus on a cool feature instead and pump up the photos with filters.
3. Never use stock photos.
4. When a house sells, use text on the photo to highlight the accomplishment, such as “Sold in One Week” or “Who’s Next?” It lets people know that you are selling houses.
5. Add great photos of the town/city you are trying to build a presence in.
