Stewart Title® recently announced that Dawn Lewallen, senior compliance counsel and senior underwriter, was elected a fellow of the American College of Mortgage Attorneys (ACMA). Formed in 1974, ACMA is the leading organization of counsel in the United States, Canada, and the Americas. Members (fellows) are professionals who have been recognized by their peers as distinguished practitioners in the field of mortgage law and real estate finance based on the high caliber of their legal skills; knowledge, experience, and professionalism; and their commitment to giving back to the legal profession and their communities. ACMA has approximately 400 fellows throughout the United States, Canada, and the Americas.
Lewallen has worked in real estate services for more than 17 years and has been an active member of the Georgia Bar Association and the American Land Title Association. Her expertise includes writing and lecturing on real estate and title insurance for financial institutions, builder and realtor associations, and title companies throughout the country.
Following several years in private practice, she joined Stewart Title in 2000. Recently, Dawn’s major focus has been the CFPB’s integrated mortgage disclosure rule, also known as TRID or “Know Before You Owe.”
“As we have faced challenges with the TRID rule implementation, Dawn has provided valuable insight into how to navigate in a new regulatory landscape,” says Jim Gosdin, associate general counsel. “We’re happy to congratulate Dawn on this prestigious honor. Many thanks to her for her hard work on Stewart’s CFPB strategy and many other compliance issues.”
