International screen siren Brigitte Bardot’s former vacation home is up for sale. The fully-renovated estate, situated in the hills above the French Riviera, is listed for approximately $5.65 million. Bardot absconded to the home, known as Le Castelet, after divorcing her first husband in 1957.
Beautifully appointed in French country form, Bardot’s 13th century getaway includes a stone-lined main house and guest house, along with formal gardens, an olive grove, vineyards and two infinity pools. The kitchen in the main house, by De Tonge, features a walk-in refrigerator, and the kitchen in the guest house opens to the main pool. The living room in the main house is anchored by an original Louis XIV fireplace.
The property, boasting views of the Bay of Cannes and the Esterel Mountains, has over 12 bedrooms, including a master labeled the “Bordeau Suite” with a built-in library and private terrace. The main pool is outfitted with underwater speakers and lighting, as well as a spa for 16, and the expansive pool house can accommodate up to 60 dinner guests. The outdoor living space comes complete with a kitchen and pizza oven.
Bardot, now 81, was catapulted to superstardom after her controversial role in “And God Created Woman,” popularizing the bikini, among other styles, stateside.
