Beaumont, Texas-based RE/MAX ONE is seeking donations, sponsorships and volunteers to support a home-build for a local veteran, the company recently announced. The company is building a home for SSG Phillip Blackmon and his family through a partnership with the non-profit Texas Sentinels Foundation, which awards veterans in Texas a 100-percent debt- and mortgage-free, ADA-compliant, fully-furnished home.
SSG Blackmon, an explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) specialist, completed two combat deployments in Iraq, as well as provided security for presidents and at NFL games and worked alongside the U.S. Secret Service. SSG Blackmon currently holds the record for successfully diffusing more than 150,000 tons of unexploded ordnance while in Iraq. He is a recipient of the SF Hero of the Year Award at Fort Bliss.
