We’ve all been the person who kills a houseplant (or two…or three) well before their time. With a busy schedule, it can be hard to remember watering instructions, and before you know it, you’re waking up one morning to a wilted plant beyond saving.
But don’t despair! There are plenty of plants ready to weather the attempts of even the most amateur gardener. Read on for three beginner houseplants that will freshen up your space.
Spider Plant
These plants get their name from their long limbs, and their ability to quickly multiply. Place a spider plant in indirect sunlight. Water it periodically and it will have doubled in size before you know it. (As a bonus, as they grow you can snip off portions to gift to friends.)
Snake Plant
These thrive in office spaces, since they need very little light and only have to be watered once a month. Put it in a pot and forget about it. They are practically impossible to kill, and add a wonderful pop of dark green to any room.
Peace Lily
Place a peace lily in a shady corner. If you water it from time to time, it won’t give you any trouble. This little plant is as pretty as it is low maintenance, and gives off a light floral scent perfect for entryways. (Plus, they also make for thoughtful housewarming gifts.
