Center for REALTOR® Development (CRD), an online learning platform owned and operated by the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) is pleased and proud to announce its new partnership with CCIM Institute, a nonprofit organization affiliated with NAR that focuses on education and benefits for commercial real estate practitioners.
5 New Online Courses
This launch marks the first time CCIM Institute has contributed content to CRD. As a result of this exciting partnership, CRD is launching five new online courses on its platform this year for residential and “resi-mercial” (a mix of residential and light commercial) real estate professionals. Courses range from 60-90 minutes in length and $39-$130 in cost. The five new online courses available in 2019 include:
- Calculating Value for Investment and Rental Properties
- Developing Your Commercial Real Estate Business
- Leasing Commercial Real Estate
- The Role of Demographics and Market Data in Commercial Real Estate
- Splitting Profits in Commercial Real Estate
To create this customized offering for the CRD audience, the Center worked directly with the team at CCIM Institute’s Ward Center for Real Estate Studies. The Robert L. Ward Center for Real Estate Studies, named after past CCIM Institute President Robert L. Ward, CCIM, was created to provide continuing education and thought leadership to CCIM Institute members and CRD professionals worldwide on timely topics in the industry. CCIM Institute’s Ward Center course offerings tackle today’s most relevant subjects, including current financial analysis strategies, communication skills, high-tech marketing strategies and alternative financing.
Because CCIM Institute content addresses the commercial real estate market exclusively and offers its own separately-administered credential (the CCIM designation), we consider these five courses as introductory or foundational in nature—a bridge between the two areas of practice. Furthermore, these five complement an existing CRD course called Discovering Commercial Real Estate, and serve as the beginning of a fuller hybrid curriculum for the CRD audience.
In addition to these first five offerings, look for additional CCIM Institute courses in the future tackling topics like financial calculations and calculators, Excel training and how to work with a CCIM colleague. At a minimum, these five courses will educate residential agents about the fundamentals of commercial practice, encourage referrals between the two practitioner groups and generate a pipeline of individuals who may wish to pursue CCIM education and credentialing.
