Moving doesn’t have to be a total nightmare. Sounds kind of crazy, right? The reality is that a moving company that strives to make it as painless as possible can completely transform the experience. Finding said company, however, is the challenge.
The key is knowing what to look for and, with that in mind, here are a few tips to help you find a top notch moving company!
Online Research
As is the case with many things these days, the first step should be doing some online research and reading reviews from past customers. A company with no reviews is often a bad sign, so keep digging until you find a few with overwhelmingly positive feedback. It’s also a good idea to determine how long the company has been in business – do they have a few months of experience or a few decades?
On-Site Estimates
When you find a few companies that have left their customers happy, it’s time to get on-site estimates from each. This is a good opportunity to ask lots of questions, like what do their rates include? How many people will there be in their crew on moving day? What type of experience do they have moving valuable artwork or antique furniture? Also, keep in mind that they should be thorough when visiting your home if they’re going to provide an accurate estimate.
Ensure they’re Insured
While you would hope that every moving company is insured, it’s better to be safe than sorry. If the company is licensed for moving across state lines, then they’ll be registered on the Department of Transportation’s Mover Registration Database, where you can also find their insurance information. The last thing you want is an uninsured company moving your valuables.
