NAR’s Center for REALTOR® Development Podcast Covers a Wide Range of Real Estate-Related Topics
Today, information can be accessed from myriad avenues. Often, it can feel overwhelming to the busy REALTORS® whose on-the-road schedules leave little time for anything else. That’s where the National Association of REALTORS®’ Center for REALTOR® Development (CRD) Podcast comes in.
Monica Neubauer, podcast host and REALTOR® at Benchmark Realty LLC, who has worked in the industry for 17 years, believes podcasts are the way of the future—and a great complement to traditional learning without encroaching on hectic timetables.
“REALTORS® spend a lot of time in their cars. This allows them the benefit of learning while driving around, getting short bits of information on a specific topic, but not so short that it’s shallow,” says Neubauer.
The hour-long podcast episodes debut once a month and cover a wide range of valuable real estate-related topics, such as pricing homes, customer service, working with first-time homebuyers, seniors or military personnel, and more. Each episode closes with recommendations for follow-up courses.
“Most of the podcast topics are derived from designation or certification courses. They tie together when possible,” says Neubauer. “The podcast aims to remind agents that there is great education out there. We want to give them a free member benefit to help them get started learning and offer resources for further education.”
Neubauer says the podcast is also a great accessory to online courses, which are typically missing the interaction and the anecdotes of the concrete classroom.
“Having an hour conversation allows us to go into detail and offer great tools that agents can apply immediately,” says Neubauer. “And with the conversational style with different guests, it makes it entertaining as well as informative.”
The variety of guests is what truly sets the CRD Podcast apart. Neubauer says “people have different gifts and experiences” that they bring to the conversation.
“The guests and their experiences all help us be better REALTORS® and better people overall,” says Neubauer. “We have some listeners who listen twice to make sure they are getting all the good tidbits and wisdom that the guests drop so casually.”
How can REALTORS® benefit from CRD and the podcast? According to Neubauer, education leads to a stronger business and a better bottom line.
“Agents with designations make more money in the industry. Why? Not because the public understands the letters, but because we have the extra education to help us be more prepared to help our clients, do more business and be more successful,” she says.
According to Neubauer, success in real estate is all about “bringing great service while reducing stress for our clients.
“Accomplishing that goal requires each of us, individually, to continuously learn and apply skills that allow us to provide the service and wisdom our clients need,” says Neubauer. “The Podcast and the classes at the Center for REALTOR® Development help us make progress toward improvement in our lives.”
