Lexington, Ky.-based Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate® Cypress has acquired Berea Realty and expands the Better Homes and Gardens® Real Estate brand into the Berea and Richmond, Ky. areas.

The company will move forward under the leadership of Principal Broker Kenny Whalen, Career Development Manager Joseph Delos Reyes, Director of Business Operations Debbie Scanish and Co-Owners Nick Ratliff, Kim Soper, David Graves and Brian Lubeck.

Berea Realty Broker Mark Cox will serve as associate broker and manager of the Berea location at Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Cypress. He and his five agents will continue to serve clients throughout Madison County and into Estill, Fayette, Clark, Jessamine, Garrard, Rockcastle, Powell and Jackson counties.

Berea, a quaint community of more than 15,000 located 40 miles south of Lexington, has a national following as the arts and crafts capital of Kentucky and home to Berea College, which was founded in 1855 and earned national acclaim through its Tuition Promise Scholarship that guarantees no student pays tuition.

“I can remember as a young kid going to the famous Boone Tavern Restaurant and the craft shops,” says Whalen. “While a college student at Eastern Kentucky University I often drove to Berea to recapture those memories. We could not be more excited to partner with the community of Berea. Our new agents are thrilled to now represent Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate and bring the benefits of the top lifestyle-focused real estate brand to the region’s homebuyers and sellers.”

The average home price in Berea is $165,187, which is far less than the national mark of $280,800, according the National Association of REALTORS®.

“I’m excited that we are joining Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Cypress and the opportunities this move provides our agents,” Cox says. “We will benefit from outstanding marketing and training programs. And certainly, the name recognition of the brand is unmatched and will complement our growing arts and crafts community in Berea and the surrounding area.”

Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Cypress was founded in 2010 and has been part of the Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate network since January 2015.
