Packing is a long and tiresome task, but it’s one that can be made a bit more fun with some good music. And if you or someone in your family subscribes to a music service, you can listen to almost any song you want, so here are some suggestions for your packing playlist.
Don’t Stop Believing:
This classic Journey song is a terrific motivator because it’s upbeat and optimistic. For those moments where you just get exhausted, or realize you don’t have enough boxes, don’t give up. Instead, let this rocker inspire you to keep moving forward.
On the Road Again:
Willie Nelson is a legend and this song is all about the joys of hitting the road and traveling, a fitting theme as you prepare to move from one home to another. Instead of looking at moving as a chore, this tune can make it feel like an adventure.
Hit the Road Jack:
Another road song, and it’s absolutely brilliant. Ray Charles gets ordered by the Raelettes to get out of town, and he answers, but he ultimately gives up and decides he’ll “have to pack my things and go”—perfect lyrics as you pack.
Homeward Bound:
This Simon and Garfunkel number will calm things down when you need a little peace. It’s a melodic, beautiful song about the desire to be home and the comfort we find in being there. The singers are singing about returning home, but it also fits the idea of establishing a new home.
Time to Move On:
This Tom Petty deep track is all about starting a new chapter in life and how there are times we need to press forward, even though we don’t always know how things will turn out. It’s a thoughtful mid-tempo song that is both reflective and optimistic.
We’re All in This Together:
Who doesn’t love High School Musical? And if you have kids who love it, this is an uplifting number to play at a time when things get tense and the family needs a little inspiration.
There are songs for every occasion, so let music guide you through the moving process.
