When you’re the “new kid on the block,” making friends with your new neighbors can be difficult or awkward.
Some neighbors may be worried about bothering you, so once you’ve settled in, knock on doors and introduce yourself.
To help break the ice, ask for a cup of sugar or restaurant suggestions.
If you have young kids, set up playdates with neighbors whose children are around the same age as yours.
Visit local gathering spots, such as coffee shops, parks or community pools, where you’ll run into neighbors.
If neighbors drop by your new home, be courteous and invite them in when possible. Always send thank-you cards for gifts.
