In a split decision Feb. 20, the judge overseeing the goliath buyer-side commission case dismissed some state-level claims by plaintiffs—and dropped one of the defendants entirely—in an opinion that appears to be a relatively small victory for big real estate brokerages, with most claims in the lawsuit still moving forward.
I think that instead of attacking realtors trying to make a living, people/the public/buyers should be going after big banks that charge ridiculous interest rates on their loans. Would the measly 1-6% commissions (split by two people plus their brokerages) really have that big of an impact if the mortgage loan rates were down? Why attack realtors? I mean, I guess all these buyers could handle their own real estate transactions, or better yet, hire an attorney who will charge even more!
