While speculation continues to surround President-Elect Donald Trump’s nomination of Ben Carson to the post of Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) secretary, two more members of Trump’s HUD transition team have been named: Shawn Krause, executive vice president of Government Advocacy for Quicken Loans, and Jimmy Kemp, son of former HUD Secretary Jack Kemp. Krause brings 28 years of experience to the transition team, serving in virtually every department within Quicken Loans, from capital markets and underwriting to technology.
“Shawn has done everything you can practically do in this industry,” says Bill Emerson, Quicken Loans CEO. “You have someone who truly understands housing. You couldn’t ask for someone better for a HUD transition than that.”
Reports confirm Krause deregistered as a lobbyist for Quicken, a position she held since 2009, earlier this year. Trump recently shared plans to ban lobbyists from his administration in an effort to follow through on his promise to “drain the swamp.”
Other key players in Trump’s transition include Paul Atkins, former director of the Securities and Exchange Commission, to lead the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau team; Timothy Bitsberger, former Assistant Secretary of Treasury, to the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) team; and Ralph Ferrara, former Securities and Exchange Commission General Counsel, to the Federal Reserve Board team.
