Maximizing Your Weekend Hours

While many of us wish we could pack all our work into the week and save our weekend for relaxing, for some—especially real estate professionals—stealing hours on the weekend to work on prospecting, showing properties or touching base with clients is essential. The following tips can help you maximize your weekend hours so you take care of what’s needed, and still have time to wind down with friends and family.

Short- and Long-Term Breakdown

Write a list of goals you want to achieve over the next six months to one year. Then, break these goals (e.g., get 10 more listings) into manageable, goal-oriented tasks you can tackle in one hour segments (e.g., call five former clients) to put you on your way to your larger goals.

Prioritize

Now that you have short- and long-term goals, figure out what level of importance each one has, and list them from most to least important.

Schedule Specific Hours

Now that you have your priorities down, schedule a small, manageable block of time once a weekend to work on them, like, two hours every Saturday morning.

Incorporate R&R

While it may seem tempting to power through long weekend hours to get ahead, what will really set you ahead is rest and relaxation so you can recharge. Be sure to schedule this into you weekend plan so your life has balance and you maintain important social connections.

Tell Your Social Circle

Tell your family and friends about your goals, and your new schedule if it involves them, like asking your spouse to watch the kids for two hours every Saturday so you can prospect. This helps with accountability, creates a sphere of support, and manages the expectations of your loved ones.
