When you’re busy prepping your home for sale, it’s easy to focus your attention on the larger, grander parts of the space, like living rooms and kitchens. Bathrooms, however, are a crucial part of any home and investing in upgrades here can significantly increase your home’s value. If a full-scale renovation just isn’t in your budget, here are some easy staging tips:
Add a luxe shower curtain. Vinyl shower curtains might be cheap and easy to find, but they’re a magnet for mildew and don’t exactly add that upscale spa vibe most home sellers are going for. Try a fabric shower curtain in a neutral colour and a rich texture for a simple, enhanced look.
Clear out your personal grooming products. Let your guests imagine their own belongings in the space by removing any personal hygiene products—lotions, razors, shower loofas, etc.—from the counters or showers. If you’re living in your home while it’s for sale and find this inconvenient, try storing your grooming essentials in a lidded basket or tote that you can easily store when it’s time for a viewing or open house.
Invest in a deep clean. If ever there was a room you shouldn’t skimp on cleaning, it’s the bathroom. Between grungy grout and splattered mirrors, the bathroom is prone to uncleanliness. Hire a cleaner if you must, but it’s imperative that everything is polished and scrubbed, from the tiles and the bathtub to the fixtures and the mirror.
Add neutral accessories. Now that you’ve taken out your personal items, it’s time to add some carefully selected accessories. Decorative towels in a neutral colour make the space seem welcoming, while candles or fresh flowers can give it a spa-like vibe. Displaying bath salts or cotton balls in a decorative jar can be a nice touch too, if you have the space.
