Entryways can be overlooked when it comes to style. After all, they’re basically a drop zone. But when you think about it, entryways are the first thing you see when you come home and the last before you head out to face the day. Should they really be overlooked? Try these tips to make your entryway as stylish as it is functional.
Add a dresser. Consider placing a statement dresser in your entryway. Not only will it provide closed storage for gloves, socks, scarves and even shoes, but it’s an opportunity to show off your style and display some accessories on the top.
Add colour and texture with a runner. A runner gives you a chance to show off a bold pattern or intriguing texture that really makes the space. It also, however, adds warmth on cold days and prevents dirt or slush from being tracked all over the house.
Do double duty with a storage ottoman. It can be nice to have a spot near the front door to sit on while tying shoes, but why stop there? A storage ottoman does double duty, acting as a seat and a place to store items. For larger spaces, a storage bench topped with a colourful throw pillow can be a great option too.
Use the whole wall. In an entry way, every bit of space counts. If you’re looking for more creative storage, consider hanging a pegboard on the wall, installing some open shelving, or putting up some decorative hooks.
