Tim Milam owns Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage in North Carolina. The company’s motto is “Do Something Nice for Someone Every Week,” which is why it’s no surprise that its employees stepped in to help coworkers and other community members after their homes were damaged by a hurricane. Coldwell Banker Real Estate’s corporate office and several other Coldwell Banker companies across the U.S. joined the effort. The team has also built six Habitat for Humanity homes.
At press time, the company was tracking toward nearly $2 billion in closed sales for 2019 and merged two Coldwell Banker companies into the firm.
Milam was born in Cabin Creek, W.Va., the youngest of six children. His parents taught him the value of hard work early in his life, and he attended the University of Charleston, West Virginia, on a baseball scholarship.
After earning a degree in computer science, Milam worked in the banking field before joining his brother Paul’s real estate business, Wilmington Sea Coast Properties. The company joined the Coldwell Banker franchise in 1993. In 1997, Milam bought the business.
Milam expanded the company from one office to 11. In 2012, Sea Coast Realty merged with Coldwell Banker Advantage. The companies have a total of over 800 sales associates and 30 sales offices in eastern North Carolina. Milam is a Wilmington-Cape Fear Home Builder Hall of Fame inductee and a member of the Business Alliance for a Sound Economy and Wilmington Business Development.
