Social Skills: Fall Into Seasonal Marketing
REALTORS® are no strangers to marketing—it being an essential part of growing your business. Seasonal marketing, however, is not always everyone’s cup of tea. Read more.
In 2019, as he thought about handing off the leadership role in the very unique RVA Better Aging Forum business networking group, Gordon Laroussini reflected on his career and his contributions to the community.
Laroussini became a REALTOR® in 1997, a time of economic uncertainty. In 2002, he began caring for his in-laws, who had dementia and lived several states away, and learned first-hand about the struggles of being a caregiver and the limited resources available.
In 2007 he joined the Richmond Senior Network and soon thereafter helped jump start the RVA Better Aging Forum, a monthly speakers platform, where professionals who serve seniors meet to hear ideas and exchange resources. Professionals who served seniors met to exchange ideas, build relationships and learn about available resources so they could raise awareness among their mutual customers. The forum now includes over 70 member companies.
In 2014, Laroussini urged the Virginia Association of REALTORS® to change the way Medicaid benchmarked the market value of a home to avoid hurting families financially by forcing them to wait to have a distressed home reappraised. The governor changed the guidelines, in conjunction with the Central Virginia Regional MLS.
Laroussini supports families interested in downsizing or transitioning to a 55+ community or assisted living. In addition, he helped launch a foundation to preserve and restore the iconic Byrd Theater.
