This is a step of progress. Many people think the whole “systemic racism” argument is overblown, but taking steps like this one will further reduce hidden biases in the housing industry. As these recommendations are implemented, racial bias will become less prevalent in home ownership, and over time housing communities will more consistently represent the demographic diversity of the nation.
When housing becomes more equitable, then schools will become more representative of demographic diversity, then educational achievement will become more representative, then employment will become more representative, then wealth will become more representative, then “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” will become more representative of the demographic diversity of the US.
