RISMEDIA, Nov. 24, 2008-First American Title Insurance Company has announced that Alan K. McCall has been elected president of the Florida Land Title Association (FLTA) for the 2008/2009 term. A 34-year veteran of the title insurance industry, McCall currently serves as vice president and southeast regional underwriting counsel for First American. He is based in the company’s office in Winter Park, Fla.
Prior to joining First American in 2001, McCall managed the claims and underwriting departments for two large national title insurance underwriters in the Southeastern United States. He also served as the country’s number-two title attorney while in the Lands Division of the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. A featured speaker at various seminars, McCall has authored numerous educational articles and materials on subjects relating to real estate and title insurance.
“Alan is a proven leader,” said Kenneth H. MacKay, vice president and southeast regional manager of First American Title. “I am confident that the leadership abilities and expertise he brings to his new role as president of FLTA will have a positive impact on both the association and the industry.”
“Due to the changes in rules, laws and regulations that are pending or proposed, the active participation of all of FLTA’s members will be more important this year than any other I can remember,” McCall adds. “We’ll need a larger voice than we’ve ever had to preserve, protect and improve our industry.”
A Florida native and resident of Lake Mary, McCall holds undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Florida and has been admitted to the state bars of Florida and Virginia. He is currently a member of the Executive Council of the Real Property section of the Florida Bar and chairman of its FLTA Liaison Committee. He has also served on numerous FLTA committees, including Governmental Affairs and Judiciary, Insurers’ Section Executive Committee and the Forms Committee. In recognition of his many contributions to FLTA, McCall was the recipient of the 2003 Raymond O. Denham award, which each year is given to a member who has rendered a high degree of service and support to the Florida Land Title Association.
