RISMEDIA, June 5, 2009-It’s the first global event of its kind, expected to draw more than 50,000 runners and walkers who are moved to help end breast cancer forever. Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s Inaugural Global Race for the Cure® is in Washington, D.C., this weekend, June 5-6, and organizers hope to raise $6.1 million to fund educational programs and breast cancer research.
Since 2002, RE/MAX International, Inc. and RE/MAX Associates around the country have been raising money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, through local fundraising events, co-sponsorship of the Survivor Recognition Program at Race for the Cure events and now the RE/MAX national sponsorship of the Race for the Cure® Series.
This year, despite a challenging economy, RE/MAX International raised its sponsorship level to become the exclusive real estate sponsor of the Global Race for the Cure and the full series of more than 120 Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure events worldwide.
“Breast cancer has affected our family, friends and neighbors and for the nearly 100,000 RE/MAX Associates around the world, it’s a very personal cause,” said Margaret Kelly, Chief Executive Officer of RE/MAX International. “We are so very proud to be a national sponsor of the Race for the Cure Series that has created this inaugural global race because of the recognition it will bring to Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the hope it will give to people living with breast cancer.”
RE/MAX says that the company is honored to be among the sponsors and guests welcomed at a special pre-race reception at the Vice President’s mansion before the Race, and RE/MAX will be part of the morning ceremonies on Saturday, June 6th.
