RISMEDIA, October 19, 2009—At a time when real estate agents are doing everything they can to get prospective buyers off the fence and back into the market, it is crucial that we focus on finding truth in the realities of today’s market. In an ongoing series of Best Practices Videos, Real Estate magazine sits down with industry leaders to get a first-hand look into the issues that are affecting the real estate market today.
Real Estate magazine recently interviewed Tom Kunz, president and CEO of Century 21 Real Estate, LLC to discuss how real estate professionals can use today’s market to their advantage by countering the negative effects of the media as well as handling the misconceptions that abound in the real estate market today.
“Brokers need to be willing to take a leadership role,” says Kunz. “Buyers and sellers are our customers and agents are the most important asset a real estate company has as they are the link between the company and the marketplace in general,” he adds. “It takes leadership to be able to have buyers bring money to the table in addition to getting sellers to bring inventory to the table,” continues Kunz.
In addition to taking on a more active leadership role, Kunz believes that real estate professionals need to provide the general public as well as their sphere of influence with a more positive picture of the real estate landscape. “It is important for real estate agents to provide their clients with hard data and statistics regarding today’s market,” says Kunz. “We need to disseminate the point that there is opportunity in today’s marketplace to the public so that prospective clients know that today is a great time to enter the market,” adds Kunz.
